I like Copenhagen.
A principal reason is that this was my first foreign city ever visited in my life. It was October in 1967. I was 26 yr old. Forty years ago. The airfare from Tokyo to to Europe was astronomical at that time, as the Japanese income was low and the currency rate was 360 yen per dollar. At that time, a university graduate first month salary was probably 13,000 yen or so.
Copenhagen was the transit airport to Geneva, Switzerland. The flight arrived early morning via Anchorage and the connecting flight was about ten or eleven oclock so that the flight company reserved a short stay room nearby the airport. I went out for the town and walked around in the city for several hrs. It was my first foreign day. Before I evend did not have any flight travel. Since then Copenhagen was a kind of my special town and I visited at least five times for tourism , transit and also for giving a lecture in the university.
This time I strongly felt that Copenhage is the city of bikers (so many people ride on bicycle) and of course that Danish love elegance and simplicity.
