Red color Higanbana (Lycoris, a kind of lilly) bloomed in mid-september as usual. I did not know it contains a toxic substance, and as it is a triploid, it cannot be propagated by seed. Plant contains a highly toxic substance, but if that is removed, it can be eaten with certain probality of death so that it is not a popular plant within the house. Higanbana has been still seen frequently along the rice field as the evidence for the food substitute at the time of famine.
Sweet potato is a good one as it can be made every year on the same soil. These came from a 7m long ridge.
